Man shot dead after intruders enter house in St Ives

A murder investigation has begun after a man was shot dead at a house in Dorset.

Dorset Police said they were called to reports intruders had entered a house in St Ives, near Ringwood, shortly after 03:00 BST.

One of the occupants, a man in his 60s, was shot. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

The property has been cordoned off while police investigation work continues.

Det Ch Insp Sarah Derbyshire said: “At this stage we are still trying to establish exactly what happened at the address and how and why this man was shot dead.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area, or was in the area at that time, to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.”
